Vittoria Manuale:
Type West Term 1 Type Revival

This project was completed from term 1 of Type West 2022. The objective was to digitize a typeface pre-1930s from metal type. Originally it was named #20 from George Bruce’s Son & Co type foundry. It’s named google translate for “Manual Victory” in Italian because it was just that for me as my first typeface.

I learned a lot from researching to observing to drawing in the Glyphs app. Using Glyph Collector to look at different letters from my specimen, tracing over the letters themselves, and using a magnifying glass were all super helpful in finding harmonies in the terminals.
